Spencer Kingi


From 1995 A Slice of Saturday Night until 1999 Me and My Girl Spencer has appeared in every BMT show. A highlight during that period was playing Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.In 2000 Spencer left Blenheim and headed south to Christchurch and spent three years at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art (NASDA) honing his stage skills and gaining a Batchelor of Performing Arts. His final show there was South Pacific for the Court Theatre in 2002.

Degree in hand, he returned to Blenheim to perform locally for both BMT and Marlborough Repertory Society. Spencer played the lead role in The Full Monty, Motel in Fiddler on the Roof and starred in The Beauty Queen of Leenane.

In 2005 his career in the NZ Police force took priority and Spencer was posted to Christchurch for 10 years which meant a break from theatre. He moved back to Marlborough and has managed to juggle his shift work to be able to return to the stage. He sang at the opening of the ASB Theatre and then played Rooster in Annie.
